Maybe I Was Wrong

from IKOV by Faimkills

/
  • Zine culture meets the pre-streaming era CD sleeve! Growing up in the 90s and early 00s, I remember what it was like to buy a CD and listen to the album front-to-back while reading the liner notes in the CD sleeve. I decided to combine my love for CD booklets with my fascination with zine-making to create a tangible experience to accompany the digital album IKOV.

I designed the 20-page 5.5 x 8.5 IKOV lyrics zine containing lyrics, images, and short reflective writing for every song on the album.

I hope you'll do like I used to do and listen to IKOV while reading the zine.

lyrics

You turned your back on me
Thought you had everything to offer me
I stayed the same
I played your—
I have nothing left to say
Where you go missing in a cliché
You’re lost in a cliché

People can change I still believe that
Maybe I’m naïve maybe I need that

Maybe I was wrong
So wrong
So long
With you
I just don’t belong
I’m so alone
With you

I was just trying to keep it together
Everybody knows that we ain’t together
When I saw you out front
All of it crept in at once
Giving my all to a lost cause
Looking for the end of this long pause
I keep giving in to see you again
I kept giving in when I shouldn’t have been

I can see it ending now
I can see it ending now
And I could’ve made it right some now
But I think I see it ending now

Watching you go
You know I couldn’t stomach it
Wishing I were Superman
Bullets bouncin off of me
I’d jump in front of it
Oncoming traffic
Planes that are plummeting
Buildings collapse on you
I’d fall up under it
I was such a fan of you
Standing on that precipice
Extend my hand to you
But you couldn’t handle what I am
So what I am to you now
Is a scramble of memories littering your Instagram
